With over 20 years of experience as a real estate entrepreneur, business angel and venture capitalist, Antonio Velardo has built a career on spotting opportunities early and turning them into thriving businesses across very different sectors and countries.
Born in Naples, Italy, in 1977, he left home at 19 to become a commercial pilot in Florida, then changed course to study civil engineering in the United Kingdom — the start of a career in real estate that took him from Spain and Cape Verde to Italy, North Africa and, after the 2008 financial crisis, the United States.
Today he is the Chairman of Real Capital Ventures, Chairman of Real Capital Caribe and American Wise Investments, and Chief Investment Officer of Moat Investing, a value-investing research firm.
